The Bench exists to support our desire for space, whatever that may mean to the individual.
Live @ The Bench is an event whereby The Bench transforms into a hybrid stage at seat level. Launched at the closing party of To build a bench with live music performed by guest musicians Dan Breaden, on guitar/hang drum, Ramiro Leite and Helen Sayer on guitar with singing accompaniments by myself.
To tell a story is a process.
Deciding what affected you most or stayed with you can take time.
Writing was one of the processes that helped me retell the story of my local walk in lockdown forming the foundations of the exhibition. It was a definitive way to establish what I initially experienced in that moment. I shared this experience through hosting a poetry workshop designed in collaboration with artist Fiorella Angelini, where participants experimented with writing triggers from reflecting on sensory experiences to creating constraints such as timed writing sessions.
